Chris Wirsig releases soundtrack EP for mystery short film “20 Matches”
January 22, 2016
The motion picture soundtrack for the mysterious, creepy short film "20 Matches" by writer/director Mark Tapio Kines, about a serial killer in Vienna, is released today. The music by Chris Wirsig underlines the gloomy, confined atmosphere with a small chamber string ensemble and electronics that blend to form a hybrid score, reminiscent of John Carpenter’s work, but still firmly rooted in today’s sounds.

Mark Tapio Kines about the music: “I chose Chris for this project because I was interested in working with a composer who had a background in electronic music. I wanted a score that could feel both menacing and modern, with a dense texture and a sort of rhythm to it, while being sparse and claustrophobic at the same time. That's a lot of different ideas to ask for from one composer, especially for a short film, but Chris and I got on the same page pretty fast, and my notes got fewer and fewer. By the time he sent me the music for the end credits, I had no notes at all. It was perfect. It was all perfect.”

Having recently relocated from San Francisco to Los Angeles, composer/producer Chris Wirsig, creative head of the Electropop band no:carrier and the Electronica/Ambient project Virtual Conformity, is lending his unique dark hybrid style for scoring TV and movie projects, with 20 Matches being the first movie score.

The soundtrack EP is available digitally and on limited edition CD from iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and other stores.

Confession without regret: no:carrier release “Confession EP” – on iTunes, Amazon…
February 24, 2014
Released on February 24th, 2014, the “Confession EP” brings three new songs that show the bands’ variety. The title song “Confession“ deals with a confession without regret or remorse: „I know what I have done wrong, but can’t regret it or beg for forgiveness,” says Chris Wirsig while singer Cynthia Wechselberger adds: “You confess your faults and then leave – as you know that you can’t stay after this confession.” Stylistically “Confession” dwells in the field of Synthpop/Electropop, the second new song “Hero To A Fool” surprises with acoustic elements – from tuba to clarinette – but still is electronic. “The lyrics are socio-critical. Sadly we are really living in a time where the dumbest man can look like a hero to a fool, as it is said in the song,” says Chris. “A Bright Room” is the most experimental song of the three new works. Feverish surrealistic lyrics just like from a dream (or nightmare), angelic choirs, deep bass. A perfect soundtrack for the next dark mystery thriller…

“The Nine Days’ Queen” – tragic lifestory in a captivating song
December 9, 2013
“Born on a Sunday, destined to fall prey.” This line summarizes the life and destiny of Lady Jane Grey, Queen of England for just nine days. She’s the subject of our new single “The Nine Days’ Queen” that is available digitally now – released (of course) on Sunday, December 8 – at iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and others.

A tragic life story woven into a captivating song: “The Nine Days’ Queen” tells the story of Lady Jane Grey who was born into tumultuous, dark times, became the Queen of England for nine days before being dethroned by the real successor of King Edward VI. After several legal struggles Lady Jane Grey was beheaded on February 12, 1554. Musically no:carrier’s trademark dark Electro Noire Pop (already compared to the likes of Kirlian Camera, Dead Can Dance, and as „Portishead meets Depeche Mode“) mingles with medieval instruments and a small orchestra to form a captivating blend of electronic sounds, beats and instruments, with Cynthia’s great voice above all.

no:carrier release schedule – leading up to new album “Wisdom & Failure”
November 26, 2013
After completely re-mixing the new songs the release schedule for new music from no:carrier is finalized. The band will release a digital only single and an EP leading up to the new album “Wisdom & Failure” that will be released in May 2014. “It’s a tight schedule, but we’re happy to finally get the new songs out to our fans and see how they will like what we did this time”, says Chris Wirsig, main songwriter and producer of the Electropop duo.

The planned releases are as follows:

“The Nine Days’ Queen” – December 8, 2013 – single release on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and others

“Confession” – February 2014 – ep release as CD and on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and others

“Wisdom & Failure” – May 2014 – album release as CD and on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and others

The album will be released as a CD in North America and Europe inlcuding marketing and PR campaigns, and the band will support the release with several live dates.

August 12, 2013
We’re currently working on the final version of the upcoming no:carrier single “The Nine Days’ Queen” that deals with the tragic life of Lady Jane Grey, who reigned England for nine days. The music combines medieval and acoustic instruments and sounds with harsher electronics and synthesizers. And of course features Cynthia Wechselberger’s outstanding voice.

no:carrier’s new single “Last Scene” out today
June 5, 2013
Today the 5 track single “Last Scene” by no:carrier is released. Quote the press release: “The background stays dubious and no one knows exactly what the protagonists have lived through. „Last Scene“ commemorates past things that may better not have happened, but might have lead to success. Anyway they can’t be changed, so all that is left is the embittered-melancholic retrospect. Imbedded in electronic-swing beats, carried by Cynthia’s voice – contemplative, angry, dunning.”

The single is available as 5 track download or limited CD at Bandcamp. The Radio Mix of “Last Scene” is also available at iTunes, Amazon, and others.

Post production for “Last Scene” music video

The post production for no:carrier’s upcoming music video “Last Scene” is nearly finished. The video will be released together with the new single of the same name, predecessor to the forthcoming album “Wisdom & Failure”.
